Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian forces carried out a wide-ranging attack overnight into 25 October, targeting energy infrastructure, agricultural storage and civilian commercial sites. He described the damage in a post on X.
According to Zelenskyy, the strikes hit a thermal power plant, substations, coal mines, grain storage facilities, shopping centres and a postal logistics hub. Damage was reported in nine regions of the country.
The president also summarized the scale of the week's assaults. Over the past seven days, Russia launched around 1,600 guided aerial bombs, 48 missiles of various types, including ballistic missiles, and nearly 2,300 attack drones against Ukraine. "Unfortunately, almost every day, these brutal strikes leave people killed and injured," he said.
Casualties were reported in several areas. In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, four people died in Russian attacks on the evening of 24 October, and another 22 were wounded, among them an 11-year-old girl. In Vinnytsia, a Russian drone hit an apartment building and injured six people.
In Kharkiv, Russian forces first struck a home improvement superstore. They then carried out a second strike on the emergency services that had arrived at the scene, wounding rescue workers.
The attacks also disrupted power supplies. An emergency outage left parts of Kyiv's Holosiivskyi, Solomianskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts without electricity. In Vinnytsia Oblast, a strike on an energy facility caused emergency power cuts in one district.
Zelenskyy used the update to press Ukraine's partners for more air defence support. "We need to unblock the deliveries of Patriot interceptors already approved by European countries," he said. He also called for continued backing for Ukrainian combat aviation to counter jet-powered Shaheds.
"Every such defence package, especially ahead of winter, helps save lives," Zelenskyy said.
